Make Friends With Your Slide Software

I would always recommend that as a speaker you do all your own preparation work – that includes drafting your slides.  Only then can you be confident that everything fits well and flows.  However, we live in the real world and we are all busy people.  Asking an assistant to prepare the slides for you may be a feasible option for you.

If you are technically challenged then a little bit of time spent learning some basic features of PowerPoint will be hugely beneficial and give you more control over your own presentation.  Trust me, it is not rocket science – PowerPoint, Keynote or whatever package you use are easy enough to figure out just by trial and error.  If you have an IT department ask someone to show you the basics.  There is also plenty of help available on the internet: [Read more…]
